For Generation Z, the digital world is not separate from real life\u2014it is a space where friendships are formed, ideas are exchanged, and personal identities gradually take shape.
\nHowever, every post, photograph, comment, and reaction can contribute to the image that others form of us. This is why the simple message \u201cThink before you share\u201d has become increasingly important.<\/p>\n

A thoughtful post may inspire others, while an impulsive one may lead to misunderstanding or negatively affect our image. Although online content can sometimes be deleted, its influence may remain through screenshots, shared posts, or the impressions left on readers.
\nTherefore, building a positive digital identity does not mean creating a perfect or unrealistic version of ourselves. It means presenting ourselves honestly, responsibly, and respectfully. We can still express our personality, share our emotions, and discuss different viewpoints, but we should do so with awareness and consideration.

Students can follow reliable educational pages, listen to podcasts, practise English, connect with international communities, discover new cultures, and learn from people with different backgrounds.
\nFor language students, digital platforms offer many opportunities to improve communication skills. Writing captions in English, watching educational videos, joining language-learning communities, and exchanging ideas with international friends can make language learning more practical and enjoyable.
\nAt the same time, students should learn to evaluate information carefully. Not everything that appears online is correct or trustworthy. Checking the source, comparing information, and avoiding the immediate sharing of sensational content are essential digital skills. Being active online is important, but being thoughtful online is even more valuable.<\/p>\n
\nAs students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, we are learning more than vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. We are also developing the ability to communicate across languages and cultures.
\nLanguage can connect people, but it can also create distance when it is used carelessly. For this reason, Foreign Languages students should be especially aware of how they communicate in digital spaces. Respectful language, cultural sensitivity, and an open-minded attitude reflect not only personal qualities but also the academic environment in which we study.
\nA positive digital identity can begin with simple actions: sharing useful knowledge, acknowledging sources, using polite language, respecting different opinions, and offering constructive comments. It can also be demonstrated by refusing to spread rumours, participate in online bullying, or judge others based on incomplete information.
\nOur online presence may influence how classmates, lecturers, international friends, internship providers, and future employers see us. A professional and positive image can create valuable opportunities for academic cooperation, internships, employment, and cross-cultural connections.<\/p>\n
\nGeneration Z has grown up with technology and has an impressive ability to adapt to new platforms. However, being digitally active does not automatically mean being digitally responsible. Young people need both technological skills and the maturity to use those skills wisely.
\nOne important lesson is that online freedom should always go together with responsibility. We have the right to express ourselves, but we should also consider the possible impact of our words. Disagreement is natural, but it should not become personal attack or disrespect.
\nAnother lesson is that our value should not depend on likes, shares, or online approval. Social media often shows only selected moments of people\u2019s lives. Constant comparison can make students feel pressured or insecure. It is important to remember that a meaningful life is built through real learning, genuine relationships, personal effort, and kindness\u2014not only through an attractive online profile.
\nFinally, students should protect their privacy and mental well-being. Personal information, locations, passwords, and private conversations should be handled carefully. Taking breaks from social media and setting healthy boundaries are also positive habits, not signs of disconnection.<\/p>\n
\nA positive digital identity is not built in a single day. It is created through the small choices we make whenever we post, comment, react, or share. Each action is an opportunity to show responsibility, kindness, confidence, and respect.
